video shoot part deux

We wrapped up the video shoot for Homestreet this week. Following the shoot on the subway and Coney Island, we filmed amidst the madness of Times Square, followed by an afternoon on an amazing rooftop terrace in Greenwich Village overlooking the Empire State Building. We finished the last day of shooting back on the street, filming people we randomly ran into. Lots of great shots. Now I'm just anxious to see the final result! Hoping it'll be done sometime in August.

My camera got stolen, so sadly, there are no more pictures to share...

homestreet video shoot

Today we started shooting the video for Homestreet on the way out to Coney Island and on Coney Island. This is my first video ever and it was a surprisingly fun shoot. Got lots of stares both on the subway and on the pier and we did some staring ourselves. What an amazing place. The excursion was topped off with a ride on the somewhat sketchy soon-to-be-retired Cyclone. Not gonna try my luck on that one again, I think.

a chance to win

Sommerfesten and a few of their partners are giving away two weeks of free studio time in the amazing studio where I mixed GOODENOUGH. I'm working on my debut album now, which I'm plan to finish by early 2011, and I hope you can contribute to this by voting for me to win. All you have to do is to follow this link and click the 'star' next to HEARTFELT. I'll be forever greatful.

Oslo has been a summer paradise (by Norwegian standards) for a few days now with parks, islands and beaches packed with frolicking, sun-hungry Norwegians. It's great. Tonight I'm taking a break from swimming and evening sun and I'm opening up for Neon Indian!

goodenough release

After playing two solo shows in Shanghai and opening up for High Places in Oslo and Bergen, I'm back in Oslo preparing for the release of my upcoming EP, Goodenough. I'm excited to announce that I'll be working with Diger on the release in August and I'm planning tours in Europe, Australia and the US the next six or so months.

heartfelt & percussion

It's a big week. Tomorrow night is the first time The Music Population Orchestra meets to rehearse before the live album recording on thursday. Yesterday, I had a great rehearsal with the percussionists and now I can't wait to hear how it'll all fit together. Check out these lovely photos my brother took.

There was something magical about Efterklang's first album, Tripper, when it came out in 2004. Felt like something new and exciting. As I often do, I lose interest once the second or third album comes out, which was also the case with Efterklang. I was even disappointed after seeing them live a year or so ago. But with their 2010 release Magic Chairs (for those in Spotify Territory) I'm once again Enthralled. Highly recommended.

mixing on the atlantic

In December 2009 I mixed the first song off of the upcoming EP with Serena Maneesh mastermind, Emil Nikolaisen. Now, a coupla months later, I'm super excited about having booked Ocean Sound Recordings to mix the remaining songs with the esteemed engineer Nick Terry, whom have worked with bands like Primal Scream, the Libertines, Peaches, Franz Ferdinand and the Manic Street Preachers, to mention a few.

heartfelt + the mpo

On March 25th, I'm putting old plans to life with a live recording/concert in Rainbow Studio with Heartfelt & The Music Population Orchestra. We'll be recording material from The Heartfelt EP and the upcoming (still to be titled) EP in chamber orchestra arrangements, with lots of percussion, strings, woodwinds and brass. The recording will be released as a CD and possibly a DVD sometime this summer. I hope you can be there for it!

New Shows Added

After a quiet period with writing, recording and mixing new material, I'm itching to get out and play again. Super excited to be playing with Hjaltalín, a band I've been admiring for a long time, but the highlight of the year so far will be the live recording at Rainbow Studio with the Music Population Orchestra, March 25th. More details soon!

T-shirts finally arrive

The first batch of Heartfelt T-Shirts finally arrived from Sweden the other day. It's been an epic saga that finally resolved. They will be available in the Heartfelt Shop shortly.

so much going on

It's pretty busy in the Heartfelt Camp these days. This weekend two demos for the upcoming EP (due in November) were finished.  Next up is a remix for Iceland's Worm Is Green. Plans for a studio live album with the Music Population Orchestra are also in the works. If that weren't enough, I'm also working on a project for the Norwegian Broadcasting Company with Nils Petter Molvær.

You've got every reason to stay tuned.

Oh. You should join Heartfelt on Facebook if you haven't already done so!

Heartfelt Orchestrated

It's been a busy few days trying to finish the arrangements for the Heartfelt+MPO concert next week. It's an interesting process to rearrange the music like this - replacing synthesizers with horns and strings; notating all the little things that were recorded but never written down. I'm excited to hear how it turns out at the rehearsals in Ålesund next week. Fingers crossed!
